Negative points of Sulumits Retsambew
It looks many SEO people don’t have any honor. They are getting links on every way they can. This contest of ours just proved that. They are not thinking that we are spamming and that we are misusing people blogs and other sites…
I am inspired to write this because of three events.
First one happened two months ago. Some guy started to leave comments registered at My.Opera.Com and started leaving certain Sulumits link randomly around. On My Opera there is no place for link field so you must leave it in the body of the message.
I noticed this because I was subscribed to some Tamil post where I leaved comment year ago and this guy leaved that spamy comment. Further more Tamil reported him as a spamer, so this guy probably got banned from My.Opera.Com and his comments deleted. I noticed the man who hired that person to leave comments and he was not happy to see that his money are spend foolishly.
From this I learned that if you want comment job done, you must do it by yourself.
Second one was my mistake. I usually spend 1 hour daily to surf across the ex-yugoslavian blogosphere. I often comment on their interesting blogposts, without intention to spam it, also I usually leave link of personal blog, but since Sulumits Retsambew contest started, I started to leave Sulumits link, not because of backlink (most blogs are “nofollow”) but because I am proud what have I accomplished in the contest until now. So I ended up on Pedja Supurovic blog while looking something about digital photography (since few days ago I ordered Olympus SP-590-UZ 12 mpx, 26 optical zoom camera). Without thinking I leaved few non useful comments with my backlink. When he noticed that, he spited on our contest and the way of doing it. Strange if I leaved personal link he wouldn’t say that. But his post forced me to open my eyes and I realized that 70% of Sulumits are probably spammers. Sorry if you recognized yourself in this statement.
Third one make me really angry. Because of my comments with Sulumits Retsambew link, people started to follow me (using Yahoo Search Explorer) and start leaving comments with links to their entries or something other on Serbian-Croatian blogs where my comment appeared. They don’t have any clue what the post is about but anyway they leave comments. They are not counting that I comment there because I am regular visitor of that blog for the last “who knows how much time” or I am friend with some of them. Because of them I become guilty since I brought that guys there. Again certain person will recognize themselves. And check the blogs I am talking about? They are “nofollow” blogs, and I don’t comment on them because of backlink, you can clearly see the difference and pass that blog, move on. To hell if you plan to do this, ask me for my dofollow blog list and I will even maybe gave it to you.
I noticed this trend not only on the domestic blog, but in international too.
One way or another I am glad that this contest end is appearing on the sight. Next one I will do it on other way.

I understood first hint and completely agree with the third one, Hellas. Because same has happened with me. I was clueless whether what to do and what not.. that people don’t follow haphazardly.. These days, I’m on some quality methods with almost no scope of follow-up through yahoo explorer. These are last 2 months and time to do some safe stuff.

Hellas, I have been leaving comments on your blog from the start of this contest and by this time you really know a lot of things about me through Net Builders Forum and your blog post. I have really work little towards optimizing my web2.0 entry but I have spend a lot of time optimizing my entry. I used to make comments with backlinks from do follow blogs and I have not been using search explorer feature of Yahoo. I am commenting based on the niche. I do comment on some of the contest blogs I do regularly visit. Yours is one among those blogs that I visit regularly.

Well, I would not use word ’spitting’. I just disagreed with objectives of this contest. That was criticism, not spitting.
I am glad you did not take it hard (although I did not mention your site in my post) and actually learned something form all of this. Not just that you realized that you misbehaved, you also recognized others using improper techniques to get better ratings.
Point of my article, in short is, that there is no point making such SEO contest where the only goal is to be the first in search results. That encourages people to use black hat SEO techniques. Contest must have means to discourage blackhatting.

You do realize that position number one for every keyword that worth somethin is gained on every posible way. Not only for this seo contest but for million of other keywords that earn millions of dollar.
That is why everything is allowed in the contest. However I did not noticed people who use black hat in this contest except few spammers
People just play by the Google rules.

No worry be happy man…!!! This is normal in SEO contest. Also no wonder Matt and Google hates these kind of contest.
Akismet plug in and the Wordpress team also hates it.
We have the same experience while struggling and finally won the busby seo test.
Good or bad, nice or strange, ethical or not. However, the day you decide to join a SEO contest, is the day that you proclaim yourself to became a spammer.
So Hellas, welcome to the club!!!
We can even give you 25 negative points of sulumits retsambew, not only 3, LoL
But so far, although you have the advantage of using keyword domain name (well, since great luck no rules in the contest), congrats for keeping it up until this point.
