Sulumits Retsambew Winner was kicked out from second position, Pedee from third and Kaboon from some position on top page. Strange things are that they are kicked from all serps. For example you can’t find them anywhere on Google on any term related to Sulumits Retsambew. For example you can type pedeee.com sulumits retsambew and you will get Sunita entry. Same thing is for other two websites. So what can be reasons for this?

I have two theories.

First one is that they did something against Google Webmaster Guidelines. We all know that “winner” entry used automatic backlinking which I said are not allowed by Google. So he raised some flags and snap he was out off race.

Pedeee made good rankings but his content was not relevant to Sulumits Retsambew. It was fabricated content with bunch of links to his top page, from every paragraph on his site. It is possible that some Google algorithm detected this and he was out of race too.

I didn’t watched Kaboon site closely, so I don’t have a clue what and why happened with him, but he also had much of the old content that he changed to convince Google how his site actually talk about Sulumits Retsambew. For example how is it possible that he have blogposts from last year that are talking about our competition?

Second theory is that someone in Google put an eye on this contest. So he just went through the first two pages and kicked all entries he thought are not good. But then why some other entries are not kicked out, why they did not lost their ranking for other terms, why they did not lost their page rank, simply there is many “but” in this case.

And yes there is another theory. This is only temporary glitch in Google algorithms and they will be back before tomorrow morning.
For common webmasters this should be a good news. It shows how Google is very capable and dangerous to webmaster who want to go on the other side

Currently Sunita is holding second position and Sony with his .biz third.

Let’s hope that Google will not make even bigger drama from Sulumits Retsambew, and that we are not go where those three guys left.

I am stopping active link building. In these last few days most of my fresh backlinks will be from my forum posting and signatures. I am wondering how much those mean for ranking. I managed to get few banner backlinks so I have now some images linking to this entry. Few days before the end I will release this template for download. So maybe someone want to use it for future contests. Also I will start step by step story (How I Did It) in the series of  blogposts or maybe just one large blogpost.

Now about importance! Having the sitemap is not guarantee that your sub pages will be crawled and what is worse even indexed (if your site is not worth enough in the eyes of the search engines e.g. Google, then Google will index your site only until certain level of depth). However ensuring that your site have sitemap will secure indexing until certain depth when your site gets value and it will show you possible errors which robots encounter while indexing your site, so you can fix them.

Basically you will have indirect seo benefits, by ensuring that pages are getting indexed.

It’s better to be ranked somewhere then nowhere. But sitemap will not add value and improve your ranking against other indexed competitors.

Best benefits of sitemaps can be seen on new sites and large sites.

This Sulumits Retsambew site is using excellent Karailiev sitemap generator, plugin for Wordpress, but there are numerous scripts and tools around the net that are intended for generating sitemaps for various static or dynamic sites.

Here are basic steps for making your site sitemap compliant.

First step is installing appropriate script for your cms. You should point script to put sitemap in the root of your site so it can be easily accessed. For example www.yoursite.com/sitemap.xml

With only that done most of the search engines will eventually find your sitemap over time, but its always good thing to mention your sitemap link somewhere on the page.

Second step is to ensure your sitemap is ok and working. Register an account at Google Webmasters Tools, add your site and add your sitemap. After few days you will start to get data about how Google is using your sitemap and any error their crawler experience.

Number of indexed pages for Sulumits Retsambew is magnificent. Google show 1 920 000 indexed pages. Off course they are not all contestants but their link building efforts.

I am wondering how there is much backlinks if first ten entries don’t have even 10% of that number of backlinks.

Our number of backlinks dropped to 15,7k from 16,1 and Sunita is again ahead us. So I will need to force myself to do more job. Last month I did not worked over 5 hours if I count all spent time related to Sulumits.

There is no major changes at the frontpage.

However don’t switch to another browser , here is workaround until Google resolve this issue.

Go to google site you use, then click on “preferences” and under “Query Suggestions” section select “Do not provide query suggestions in the search box.” and save the Preferences.

After that your enter will work as supposed to work.

There is another fix in the form of User JS. I did not test it but people say it works too.

Results 1 – 10 of about 666,000 for sulumits retsambew. (0.11 seconds)

So it looks that by this rate of people joining, we will cross million of pages much earlier then I expected.

First three positions are still stable and since we are back on first place we are firmly keep it. WebmasterStimulus.org made his way to the no4. That is not surprise and I expected that he will jump to first page. Two new entries are yehia.com and web2news.com
However I can not open yehia since I noticed that entry introduction on Net Builders. Web2news are some social bookmarking site like digg, reddit and similar.

I tried to start article marketing finally, but I failed, my first article on ezinearticles is refused. It is obvious that I don’t know enough about writing and my English is not good enough. I can not write article that will pass quality guidelines so it looks I would need to hire someone or to forget Article submissions.

My link building campaign is also dead. I simply don’t have time for it, so I will push up little bit over the weekend. We even lost few great backlinks from strong sites due to complicated reasons. Good thing is that people very like few articles on Sulumits Retsambew Blog and that they constantly link to them on various forums and discussion boards.

Google Blogoscoped has more details about the why with their story named Google Japan Reportedly Bought Blog Posts in Promotion Campaign, Now Issued Apology.

Akky Akimoto at the Asiajin blog recently reported that Google Japan was paying bloggers to review a new Google widget. Using pay-per-post service CyberBuzz, blog posts like the following popped up, strangely resembling each other, as Asiajin reports.

The Google Japan blog’s apology translated into:

Google Japan is running several promotional activities to let people know more about our products.

It turns out that using blogs on the part of the promotional activities violates Google’s search guidelines, so we have ended the promotion. We would like to apologize to the people concerned and to our users, and are making an effort to make our communications more transparent in order to prevent the recurrence of such an incident.

How long will this PageRank penalty last? Matt Cutts of Google said, “I expect that to remain for a while.” Any takers on what “a while” means?

Other results did not changed too much. News are that Sony turned of his .biz page because he got some kind of warning email for his biz domain, but I don’t have clue what is in it. So I will try to pick that out. Two new entries on first page are kabonfootprint and the whitehatter. I am surprised that whitehatter didn’t jump out on first page earlier.
2sulumitsretsambew is still on second page, even if entry is banned it still stay good on Google. It looks as somebody said Google fall in love very slow, but it stop loving even slower .

Google is now on 134,000 indexed pages and rising. If everything goes by this tempo it will pass over half a million until the end. I am wondering which page rank will get Net Builders on few next updates. Their current page rank is 3.
