Sulumits Retsambew Contest – Day 68

Few days I did not watched how Sulumits Retsambew go, and today I noticed that we crossed magical number of half million pages indexed by Google for our favorite keyword. I see the:

Results 1 – 10 of about 666,000 for sulumits retsambew. (0.11 seconds)

So it looks that by this rate of people joining, we will cross million of pages much earlier then I expected.

First three positions are still stable and since we are back on first place we are firmly keep it. WebmasterStimulus.org made his way to the no4. That is not surprise and I expected that he will jump to first page. Two new entries are yehia.com and web2news.com
However I can not open yehia since I noticed that entry introduction on Net Builders. Web2news are some social bookmarking site like digg, reddit and similar.

I tried to start article marketing finally, but I failed, my first article on ezinearticles is refused. It is obvious that I don’t know enough about writing and my English is not good enough. I can not write article that will pass quality guidelines so it looks I would need to hire someone or to forget Article submissions.

My link building campaign is also dead. I simply don’t have time for it, so I will push up little bit over the weekend. We even lost few great backlinks from strong sites due to complicated reasons. Good thing is that people very like few articles on Sulumits Retsambew Blog and that they constantly link to them on various forums and discussion boards.

Contest Day 26

I don’t regularly watch anymore this contest, but I am regularly building links and I surprise myself with every new look on results. It looks one of the untouchables lost place. Sunita is no more on 2nd place, she dropped to no 7. I hope she will get back. But she still have virus on her blog. Hope she will manage to clean it.
I will dedicate my next post to this intrusive pesk. Since this site got infected as well. But I managed to clean it in a record time for maybe 15 minutes

Slideshare holds the second place, Afzal khan holds third. .biz entry jumped to five, and then that Sulumits Retsambew twitter user at number six. Firetown with his donation entry managed last position on first page.

My Evil Science advanced one more position and it is now on second page second result.

Google has indexed 112k results.

Day 24: Contest updates

Here we are again, keeping eye on our contestants in Sulumits Retsambew SEO contest. Major changes happened last night. Don’t worry people, we are still first . Slideshare entry has overtaken Sunita. Slideshare is now on 2nd place, and Sunita is on third. Also Afzalkhan passed Blogspot entry so they are not 3rd and 4th. Renanrola is not anymore on last page of first page, he jumped for one position on 9th place. As I said I did not do anything over the weekend, but is crucial not to drop my continuity in link building. It looks that other people also slowed down with link building. Sunita is staying on the same amount of links maybe 500 hundred more then me. Then on second position is me, and after me is Sony with his biz domain and around 900 backlinks. Afzal and Cijo are surprisingly good for their backlinks. But strange position is sulumitsretsambew.com entry, on second page with only few backlinks and no content. This is proof how much keywords in domain name are important. Some guys have thousands of backlinks but they all have old domains which are already developed.

Great news also is that Google passed 100k indexed pages and it is now on 105k, and first month of the contest is not over yet.

Sulumits Retsambew Contest – Day 12

Yesterday there was nothing worthy to mention on Google first page, some minor fluctuation of lower places, and we are still on the top. Today I can see that biz domain is back on 4th place, Firetown jumped on third position and 2sulumits is not among the first 100 results. I noticed that my blogspot entry is now on 81 place. I seriously think about entering to this contest with another domain. To se can I catch for at least little bit first two position. However I am very weak with my spare time and really don’t have an idea how to manage two sites. Today I will get backlinks from some obvious sources, for example free blogs that I made to support this entry. Also if I get time I will make article about onpage seo… Google is curently showing 28,700 resuls for our keywords Sulumits Retsambew.

Sulumits Retmsabew Contest – Day 8

Day 8 and we are still holding strong in sulumits retsambew contest… Sunita is still on second place. And then new advance for that wordpress guy with his 2sulumitsretsambew. He is now on third place. What is bogging me is what is he doing? There is only few pages where his entry is mentioned (other sulumits contestants entries). No backlinks, no additional content. Very strange. I would be grateful if someone can comment this. Firetown jumped to fifth place with his blogpost entry on firetown.com. And then interesting new name on the first page, last place – sulumitsretsambew.com. Only 3-4 sentences on his site and I can’t see many links to his entry also. So it looks Google went crazy.
Last two days I did not do much job. I am steadily building links. Not too much and not too little. Today I will start article marketing. I got interesting list of free article submission sites with high page ranks… Also trying to become authority site for term Sulumits Retsambew on the way that I am getting international links .

Sulumits Retsambew Contest – Day 6

I just woke up and I can tell you a great news. We are still on the top . Situation is getting harder. ChillinBreeze is now on the second place (which is not surprising, notice the quality of the page, then backlinks from article websites, social bookmarking sites, directory sites, I think we can see only a top of the iceberg here, since Google do not show us all backlinks), Slideshare dropped on third, Afzal dropped on 4th, new player is on the 5th place (someone on Wordpress.com is doing a great job). I have registered sulumitsretsambew.wordpress.com maybe I should build it little bit, and get exclusive link to my .org domain. Slavko with his .biz is dropping further. He is now on number 6. White Hatter is on the middle of second page again. Few people will ask why do I mention him? Well he is on old domain, domain which was contest entry for Busby SEO test, and now for this one. He/She built a bunch of backlinks already and now he is doing all over again …

I yesterday lost three hours on optimizing site (one hour on code highlighting plugin problem). Today I will work only 1 hour. I don’t want to risk burnout I mentioned yesterday. I added Opera button since I am very big Opera supporter. Maybe you should try it. In next few days I will probably dedicate few posts to my Opera.

Sulumits Retsambew Contest – Day 5

I am going well. I am still in the lead but there are plenty of changes. Major are: afzalkhan.org popped on third place and my friend Slavko dropped to 4th. However I believe he will be back very soon. A-sulumits-retsambew site dropped on last position on the first page, Bewithcijo with his .blogspot.com domain dropped to no6. A white hatter guy is advancing slowly, he is on second page in the middle. Web 2.0 contestants are losing their breath. Probably after 2 weeks, nobody will be on the first page.

I worked hard these past five days and I am sensing burnout effect. I don’t know how I will overcome this. In my last burnout effect lasted for about two weeks, when I did not do a single thing for given time. I yesterday restumbled my h1 h2 h3 tags and I have to prepare tags for individual pages and some more small things. With that done, my on-seo page optimization will be over. I am thinking to write every day about how people advance – up or down.

What is SERP?

After showing my contest entry to my girlfriend, she noticed somewhere on the page term SERP. I know you all know what SERP is, but there are plenty of other webmasters that maybe don’t.
SERP is acronym for term Search Engine Results Page. Some people wrongly refer, as Search Engine Result Position. It is basically search results page returned to you by the search engine, for given term (red colored area on the image bellow). Given results page can contain other elements such as sponsored listing (in our given case from google.com, we can see adwords listings in the blue area, above the SERP results). Many search engines cache their results for better performance. SERP refreshing can take significant amount of times, in some cases it needs to pass few days or even few weeks before SERP is refreshed, so don’t worry if you don’t see any fast changes.

How these SERPs are generated?

They are generated according to relevance and page worth in search engine eyes. Algorithms for determining page relevancy are almost always well kept secret. But if you stick with this formula you can’t fail:

Good original content + healthy and good links = Good position.

This means that you need to write content for people, not search engines. Good original content will give you visitors, visitors will spread word about you and they will help you to get healthy and good links. Bunch of links will mean that people talk about you, and that will give you worth and authority in the search engine eyes.
